UPDATE IN KLCI COMPONENT STOCKS


The Executive Committee of Bursa Malaysia Berhad (Bursa) in its review of the KL Composite Index (KLCI) has decided to release six companies as component stocks of the KLCI as they fell into the least active quartile of annual trading volume up to 31 March 2005.

The companies to be effective Thursday, 30 June 2005 are:

2 Computer Systems Advisers (M) Bhd Technology
3 Manulife Insurance (M) Bhd Finance
4 United Plantations Bhd Plantation
5 Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd Trading/Services
6 Measat Global Bhd Trading/Services

In place of the component stocks released, the six companies to be included as component stocks of the KLCI effective Thursday, 30 June 2005 are :

1 Astro All Asia Networks PLC Trading/Services
2 AirAsia Bhd Trading/Services
3 Bursa Malaysia Bhd Finance
4 KLCC Property Holdings Bhd Property
5 Scomi Group Bhd Industrial Product

The six companies were selected as component stocks of KLCI based on the criteria which take into account, among others, the following factors :
  1. Market Capitalisation
  2. Business Activities
  3. Trading Volume
The objective of the KLCI, made up of 100 component stocks listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities, is to continue to reflect the changes in the national economy as well as evolvement of the corporate sector.
