In response to the article in The Edge for the week of 19 September to 25 September 2005 entitled "Trading platform delayed again", Bursa Malaysia Berhad (Bursa) wishes to clarify the following:-
1. AtosEuronext Market Solutions (AEMS), the vendor engaged by Bursa to implement Bursa Trade (Bursa's common trading platform), has informed Bursa that it has detected a problem with one of the modules in its software. Bursa was further informed by AEMS that the problem can be rectified and that it has commenced rectification works in respect of the affected module. As a result of the aforesaid problem, Bursa could not proceed with its earlier scheduled implementation of Bursa Trade. Bursa expects to receive a proposal from AEMS in respect of the impact of the identified problem, including any changes to the implementation timeline.
2. Bursa is unable to comment on any additional cost arising from the above at this juncture as it is awaiting AEMS' proposal. In any event, Bursa does not expect any delay or cost overruns (if any) to have any material impact on its earnings.
