BURSA MALAYSIA INFORMATION CENTRE RECEIVES TOP HONOURS IN LIBRARY EXCELLENCE AWARD
Bursa Malaysia's Information Centre has been selected by the Malaysia National Library for the Library Excellence Award in the private sector category. The award was established this year to encourage and showcase exemplary work of libraries for their tremendous commitment to the community and their ever-expanding services.
Encik Khairussaleh Ramli, Chief Financial Officer of Bursa Malaysia, received the award on behalf of the Information Centre at the launch of the National Reading Campaign in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre recently. The National Reading Campaign, which is jointly organized by the National Library and Culture, Arts and Heritage Ministry is an annual affair with a variety of activities, planned and implemented nationwide. This campaign, launched last Friday, will run for a month.
The National Library awards committee short-listed six nominated corporate libraries and two received the top honour. Bursa Malaysia's Information Centre was recognized for meeting the overall resource and research needs of investors and students alike due to its wide collection of reference materials on capital markets, innovation in electronic news alert system and conducive resource environment.
"It's a very proud moment for Bursa Malaysia's Information Centre. We are pleased that the National Library acknowledges the important roles organisations play in their communities," said Khairussaleh Ramli, Chief Financial Officer of Bursa Malaysia. "The leadership of the Information Centre, the collaboration with our community partners and the dedicated efforts of the Information Centre staff were essential ingredients of this success. This award is a testament to the Bursa Malaysia's continued commitment to the well-being of the community we serve."
Khairussaleh added that the vast choices of books available at the Information Centre will help everyone, particularly university students, in learning more about the intricacies of investing in the capital market.
Last month, Bursa Malaysia made a contribution of almost 2,000 books to Securities Commission's Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) and four local universities namely Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA. Valued at about RM250,000, this book donation was part of Bursa Malaysia's efforts to promote financial education to undergraduates as well as foster a financially literate community in Malaysia.
