BURSA MALAYSIA PROMOTES FINANCIAL EDUCATION TO UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Students and public benefit from the exchange's book donation worth RM250,000
Bursa Malaysia today announced it has made a contribution of almost 2,000 books to Securities Commission's Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) and four local universities namely Universiti Tun Abdul Razak, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi MARA. Valued at RM250,000, this book donation is part of Bursa Malaysia's efforts to promote financial education to undergraduates as well as foster a financially literate community in Malaysia.
Present at a book presentation ceremony held recently, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, Yusli Mohamed Yusoff said, "We hope this gesture from Bursa Malaysia will spark more interest for the students and public at large to read further about the development of the capital market and investments in Malaysia. This contribution is also geared towards improving closer working relationship between the exchange and universities on capital market development initiatives."
Students and the public alike will benefit from the choice of books that are available now in the respective universities and SIDC. Ranging from securities and the Islamic capital market to other investment-related titles, these vast choices of books will help everyone in learning more about the intricacies of investing in the capital market. Furthermore, the books are made available for scholarly and research purposes in an effort to broadening knowledge on the financial and capital market.
Yusli concluded that Bursa Malaysia seeks to enhance the level of investor awareness about the Malaysian capital market and the exchange believes that this should be instilled at a young age.
