Bursa Malaysia Organises Conference To Educate Market Players On Exchange Traded Funds (ETF)
BackMay 30, 2007
Bursa Malaysia will organise a conference on Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) on 6 - 7 June 2007 to aid market players in increasing their understanding of ETF and its role in the capital market. This conference follows on from the Government's announcement regarding Government-Linked Investment Companies' (GLICs') participation in ETFs at the recent Invest Malaysia 2007. The Prime Minister of Malaysia made a call for GLICs to place out a portion of their portfolios in exchange for units in ETFs to be issued as a means to improve liquidity and promoting retail participation in the market. ETF, as an instrument, is easily traded on the stock exchange just like other equities instruments.
As the conference organiser, Bursa Malaysia aims to bring together GLICs, issuers and market makers to learn first hand from global speakers comprising top fund managers, analysts and specialists from the industry. Apart from focusing on current trends and developments in relation to ETF, this two-day conference will provide a unique opportunity for GLICs, issuers and industry players to gain insights into ETF trading, opportunities and investment strategies via presentations by local and international practitioners and regulators.
This conference will bring together a group of leading experts and influential players from the global ETF industry such as Kathleen Moriarty of Katter Muchin Rosenman LLP, Hon Cheung of SSgA Singapore Ltd, Paul Hoff of FTSE Asia Pacific, Rushdi Siddiqui of Dow Jones Islamic Indexes, USA, and Mark Talbot of Barclays Global Investors, among others.
Details on the conference are available at www.bursamalaysia.com.
